A car chase on MSU’s campus led to the arrest of the three individuals who initiated the pursuit, including Montclair student Pablo Zegarra-Lonsdale, 19.

According to Lt. Kiernan Barrett of the Montclair State University Police, the chase began in Clifton on Valley Road on Sunday morning around 1:45 a.m. when the driver of the vehicle did not pull over and drove onto campus. Reports indicated that the pursued driver reached speeds of up to 70 mph.
“The vehicle had already struck a lamp post and ran a divider plummeting down a 60 foot embankment resting in the area of the Floyd Hall Arena,” said Barrett in an email. “Two individuals fled the vehicle on foot, one other individual remained in the vehicle and was apprehended there.”
The driver, Oscar Gonzalez Jr., 19, and the other passenger, Brendan Guzman, 18, are non-students and Clifton residents.
All three were uninjured and, according to Barrett, were charged with various offenses including eluding, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated. They will also be charged with Damage to University Property.
