Sizzling Shows; Sultry Stars

This past year was filled with many press conferences, invading of countries, and questioning of those in power. But more importantly it was filled with laugh out loud reality shows and guys too hot for the TV and big screen. So, here's my list of the best of 2003, but don't take my word on it, check it all out for yourselves.

TELEVISION:

Newlyweds (MTV)

Take a pop princess, a former boy band god, marry them, and you have a hit reality show that leaves the audience wondering: Is Jessica Simpson really that stupid? And is Nick Lachey really that cheap?

Simpson gives so many one liners, like "Is this chicken or tuna?" or "Oh, I don't eat buffalo." that keeps audiences tuning in every week and gives her a lifelong place in the dumb blonde Hall of Fame.

Nip/Tuck(FX)

You can't get much more controversial than Ryan Murphy's show about a sex crazed plastic surgeon, and his partner who has his own hands filled with his crazy wife and teenaged son, who tried to circumcise himself in the third episode. Some storylines may seem outlandish, and the surgery scenes aren't for those with weak stomachs; but the excellent acting of Julian McMahon, Dylan Walsh, and Joely Richardson propels the show into must watch status.

Monk (USA)

Wings veteran and Emmy award winning Tony Shalhoub makes a stunning and hilarious performance as Adrian Monk, a neurotic, anal, obsessive compulsive detective who is more of a modern day Sherlock Holmes than the new scientific detectives that control TV nowadays.

All of the crimes seem impossible at first, but cause the audience to hit themselves and say "DUH!" once they are solved.

Monk is an excellent example of good writing and acting (not only by Shalhoub but by Bitty Schram and Ted Levine) and not network or big named backing that makes a great show.

Joan of Arcadia (CBS)

So, exactly how does a family drama about a misfit teen who talks to god stay afloat on TV?
