Kerry-ing the Weight of a Bushwacker

With Critical Presidential Election Ahead, Debates Must be Unbiased and Focused

The country is at war. The United Nations does not approve of the United State's military action in Iraq. Our economy is the worst it has been in approximately 75 years. There are barely any jobs. Poverty in America is spreading. Healthcare for the impoverished is floundering. The fundamentalist-inspired terrorism is becoming more and more frequent.

The Patriot Act is tapping our personal correspondence. The Brady Bill is in jeopardy, meaning automatic weapons may soon be on our streets again. Roe vs. Wade is being questioned. The effects of global warming are accelerating, causing the sea levels to rise, partially because Clinton's environmental protection acts were not extended by George W. Bush. Needless to say, our country has more issues than Michael Jackson's sleepover buddies.

This year, 2004, is the year for the American presidential election. It's Bush versus Kerry. It's Republican versus Democrat. The issues are fueling the races. Or are they?

The presidential debate is today, and John Kerry and George W. are preparing to discuss what their campaigns are about. So far, it appears neither campaign has been discussing their plans to make order out of chaos, but rather a huge deal of right-wing lying liars telling lies - and more lies - and John Kerry defending himself from the lies, as that is all he seems to be presented with. It is all un-consequential war jargon.
George W. Bush is an embarrassment in American history. He is using his ties to different corporate and political powers to sling mud Kerry's way, without having to own up to the "nasty politician" archetype he would become if he did his own dirty work.

I understand why Georgie keeps lying, though. He's afraid of his functional illiteracy becoming widespread news, or it getting out that the deficit was re-established in his presidency. Perhaps he is afraid of his constituents realizing how corrupt he really is.

The corruption is what concerns me. With this debate coming up, I can't help but wonder whether the television networks, with right-wing sponsors, are going to format the debate in Georgie's favor. Although, that may be difficult because regardless of what they do, Coco the gorilla - who speaks sign language - is a better public speaker than George W.
