Fall season intramurals finished up its first week last Thursday, Sept 23. With one week completed, flag football is continuing onto the next step-week two. With this defining week for playoff rankings, expectations for officials as well as teams are heightened. No one team has been a dominating force over their division or league. However the stars are beginning to shine as last week's game results made some distinctions.
1868 brought the heat as they conquered the Squirrels in a 20-0 victory. Having talent spread within the roster, the whole team got some action. Merchite, Giguilil Tuohey and Cerza tallied the points for their team. That same night, 1868 returned to match up against All Madden. With a smaller range of victory, 1868 put yet another team to shame.
All Madden made the boards in the first half with only one touchdown. The Taxi played their first game of the season Tuesday night giving Bone Squad their second victory of the season. Forfeiting their second game to the Squirrels, Taxi has a long way to go in the rankings. Having one game completed, Bone Squad was ready for a second win. Dow, Pleasant and Berdan racked the points for their team; the game winner unfeasibly goes to Matt Fredrick. With three touchdowns and 2 interceptions, Fredrick was the defining reason for his team walking away with a 30-0 win. The Shems pulled out all 34 tricks to defeat the Young Guns by a 17-point margin. DeJesus was the main benefactor adding up two touchdowns and P.A.T..
Taking a turn towards the Independent League, Babcock and Top of the Hill both played in their first match-up of this season. Babcock swept this game with a score of 23-0. With some unmatchable offense, Babcock comes to a standing of 1-0. Even with a defeat, Top of the Hill may have some items up their sleeve for the next competition. A grueling 16-16 tie was left after Wednesday's 10 p.m. game. Babcock and Those Guys came head to head and couldn't stretch far enough for a victory. With forfeits covering a majority of Sunday and Monday night, a majority of the teams were left with an easy win. Top of the Hill, All Madden, Young Guns, Cool Runnings, Agents, Taxi and Those Guys are all at an advantage over their competitors due to those forfeitures. Tuesday night's games were cancelled due to inclement weather conditions and will be rescheduled.
