This week we look at a different kind of entertainment - one that is not my usual type of excitement.
This entertainment is none other than, baseball. Everyone has been watching the excitement of The American League Championship series - all because of the known rivalries between the Red Sox and the Yankees. This series has fans on edge.
I for one do not consider myself a "typical" baseball fan, but for whatever reason this series has somehow sucked me in. The reason why it has become the phenomenon that it is, is because of the intensity between these two teams. This stemmed from so many years ago. This happened approximately 80 years ago, when Boston Red Sox player, Babe Ruth was sold to the New York Yankees. Ever since then, the myth that the Red Sox are cursed has come about.
They have been working hard, but have yet to win any championship since 1918, and the Yankees have won over 26 championships. That's right, I know my baseball statistics.
Anyway, the game not only created great excitement, but it also added some history. The Red Sox is the first team to ever come up after losing three games to make it to the final game of the best-of-seven playoffs. Wednesday night's game was a bittersweet moment for the history of baseball. Bitter, because Yankees didn't step up like the fans are used to, and sweet, not only for the Red Sox to prove that they can for once, be winners, but also for the advertising companies out there, endorsing players and promoting ads to further their sale revenues, even though it Diminishes from the authenticity of the game that the fans adore.
The final game today in New York at Yankee Stadium decided the series. It is already known that now that the Yankees lost, they will go down in history as putting the "bomb" in the Bronx Bombers and the Red Sox great win, will hopefully make Boston fans celebrate for awhile and learn to let go of all that animosity towards the Yanks. Now the it has come to a close, I know that this week I actually watched baseball, and it was fun. That is why they are this week's ENTERTAINERS OF THE WEEK!
