Most people look back on their childhood fondly. For many of us here at MSU, our childhood took place in the 80's. We all remember our favorite parts of the infamous decade: you're definitely an 80's child if you know the profound source of "wax on, wax off," (The Karate Kid), or remember when partying "like it's 1999" sounded so much farther away. Maybe you wore (or still wear) Reebok high tops.

Fashion from the 80's is making a huge comeback. It started with the miniskirt, and has progressed rapidly from there: denim jackets, torn jeans, brightly colored pointy-toed shoes, and fishnet tights have all been seen on the latest runways and on the streets.

It's possible people are just trying to bring back how happy they were in their childhood. Or, perhaps, some just can't let go.
"Some people want to be unique," Pedro Hernandez, a sophomore history major, said. "Others just don't grow out of it. They see the past and they actually like it. So why not wear something old but different?"

Have you ever worn layers of different colored socks to match your outfit? Do you remember owning a pair of Keds, or stonewashed jeans? If any of these are remotely true, you may have noticed that many of the more subtle changes in what we wear today come from those styles.

Legwarmers in different patterns and colors are planning a huge return for the cold weather. We've already seen the miniskirt and the denim jacket.
Eighties fashion is most represented in the club scene, where pointy-toed pumps and the off-the-shoulder top are prevalent - with a 2004 twist.
"I'll wear the off-the-shoulder top, but I'll have a tank top under it," Stephanie Ambrose, sophomore human ecology major, said.
Tara Kupoglu, a sophomore recreation and tourism major, agrees. "I love the miniskirt look, too. But the five-inch bangs are a definite no," she said.

Layering t-shirts and tank tops is a gorgeous, fun look that allows freedom and creativity in picking out an outfit: so many colors, so many choices - so much more modern than layering your socks.
